Prior to retirement Carol worked for an International company in IT
management. Although mainly based in the UK she worked, travelled and
lived abroad for periods of time in Germany and the US.
In 2001,after taking early retirement, Carol and her partner Mike visited
Selsey and were so impressed by the strong community spirit in the town,
they decided to move and settle here.
Over the last 16 years Carol served as a Councillor on Selsey Town Council,
and during the same period did 12 years on Chichester District Council and
4 years on West Sussex County Council.
Sadly, in 2017 her partner Mike died. She believes she was helped through
the loss by being kept busy with various council duties and commitments,
along with the support of family, friends and the community.
Carol has supported the Selsey Community Forum since its inception. She
feels the Community Forum is a true reflection of the amazing community
spirit which exists in Selsey. After standing down from politics in May 2023,
she is now volunteering for the Forum in various roles including driving for
the Buddy Transport scheme, helping people with IT issues or training, and
does occasional duties in the Care Shop.
She also volunteers for and is on the committees of: Selsey RNLI Fund
Raising Group; Selsey Patient Group; Friends of Selsey Medical Centre
